Redgate’s February 16th Valentine’s Day-themed show celebrated love, music, and their fans.

This past Friday, Redgate once again opened their doors to let in its loyal fans for a Valentine’s Day-themed show to celebrate music and love. Smiley couples with red lipstick-stained cheeks wrapped their arms around each other and swayed to the music all night long. Music from featured bands XO, Mimicking Mars, and Saint Luke made the night a memorable one.

Redgate groupies got the treat of witnessing the new three-girl band XO debut in the Syracuse music scene. XO took to the crowd and set the mood filled with excitement and passion. The band consists of Goldie Singer on vocals and bass, Kiera Walsh on guitar and vocals, and Annie Knobloch on drums and bass. We all look forward to seeing what XO has to come.

Mimicking Mars returned to Redgate with a surprise cover of “Murder on the Dance Floor”, giving it their own college/alternative rock spin. The on-the-rise band played their fan favorite and original song “Jessica”. The grove rock band consists of Jeremy Lanuti on lead vocals and guitar, James Dawson on rhythm guitar and vocals, Josh LeViseur on drums, Robert Wilhelm on bass, and Grant Harding on keys. Mimicking Mars got the crowd engaged as they played with all of their heart and talent, showcasing themselves as musicians who play with their hearts on their sleeves and give it their all.

The night was wrapped up by a musician who never fails to impress, Saint Luke. Fans turned out in numbers to see Saint Luke and the show he never fails to bring with him. A range of songs from Saint Luke's latest release “SOS!” Childish Gambino's “Me and Your Mama” propelled Redgate’s energy to a new height. The multi-piece band brings another layer of musicianship and sound to the Syracuse music scene. Although Redgate always puts on a good show, this night, in particular, reminded us why student-run music venues are so special, which was evident through the joyful faces in the crowd.
